S is for Snake

There are so many things that begin with the letter "Ss!"  In the Ocean "S" book that we read in class, we learned about sand, seals, sea horses, starfish, sea snakes, sandles, swimming suits, seagulls, sailors, steam ships and submarines!

For Show-&-Tell this week Liam brought a Super Hero book and found Superman!  Elle brought a snake who's name is October and Taylee brought a Sack :).

Seashells also begin with the letter S.  We had fun making seashell prints with playdough.

To continue with our Letter "S" sound ... we have below 3 boys Standing Still while Smiling, Swimmers and Snakes!

Our theme this week was the Ocean and we learned lots of fun things about it!  Here are the preschoolers looking at and touching some real shark teeth!

Here is a life-size picture of a Killer Whale.

We continued to learn about graphing today.  The preschoolers had fun putting dots on their octopus's eight tentacles.

We played an Ocean Animal Matching game.

Brennan and Connor enjoyed looking at more ocean pictures and animals in different books.

The preschoolers also cut each tentacle of their octopus before we put it all together.

At our sensory table we talked about how the ocean water is made up of salt and Brennan poured a bunch of salt into our own water.  We then watched little tiny capsules turn into some really fun ocean animals including: sharks, dolphins, turtles, crabs, sea horses, and fish.

Thanks for a fun week!  Remember NO school next Wednesday.  I'll be sending out an electronic form of the April Family Newsletter by the end of this month.

R is for Run

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  We had fun learning all about the letter "Rr," the color green, outer space, and graphing clovers!

For Show-&Tell Abby brought Rice-a-Roni, Charlotte showed us a Race Car, and Connor and Brennan both brought Rabbits!

Today we celebrated Abby's half-birthday!  We learned that her favorite animal is a pig, her favorite food is Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets, and that she loves all of the colors of a rainbow!
Thanks Abby for telling us all about you and for the yummy snacks that you shared with everyone!

We continued to practice the fine motor skill of cutting with scissors.

The preschoolers enjoyed water painting with Q-tips their silly Outer Space pictures.

We learned a new song that will help us remember how to spell the color Green. Taylee was my helper in holding the sign!

Although you can't see this well, the preschoolers were able to graph 4 leaf clovers.  Even when we switched up the numbers, they were able to continue graphing correctly!  Good Job:)

We were all able to choose a fun outer space book and find a favorite picture the share with each other.

Here are the pictures that each student chose ... Miss Stacey read about each one and we were able to have a fun discussion about the sun, moon, stars, planets, and astronauts.  None of the preschoolers wanted to be an astronaut when they grew up!!

We made our own telescopes so that we could see the stars!

We also practiced counting backwards from 5 as we Blasted-Off into Outer Space!  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday as we dive deep into the Ocean!
