H is for hopping

Welcome Back to Preschool!
I'm excited for 2014 and all of the fun things were going to be learning this year!

This week we learned all about the letter "H," the color Brown and the shape of an Oval.

For Show-&-Tell Abby brought Handy Manny, Brennan shared his Helicopter and Charlotte wore her Hat.

We practiced writing the letter "Hh" ... Liam and Brennan were able to make rainbow H's by practicing the letter over and over again with different colors.

Our Monthly theme for January is "My Amazing Body."  This week we started off by tracing our bodies and then drawing faces, clothing, hair, etc.

Here's Taylee pretending to be frozen as I traced around her!

Connor, Brennan and Charlotte are coloring in their bodies!

During snack time we ate some Teddy Grahams and had to label the parts of the bears body including his feet, legs, hands, arms, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, stomach, belly button (yes, teddy grahams have belly buttons!), and head.  The preschoolers loved bitting off each little part one at a time as we named them.

We also used our Teddy Grahams to play Body Bingo.  Abby and Brennan were our two winners!

We learned about the bones in our body and the preschoolers were able to identify which part of their bodies these X-Rays correlated with.
We also talked about how our bones connect at joints allowing our bodies to move.

Our Math Focus the next 2 weeks in Measurement.  We were able to use a ruler to measure the different lengths of a crayon, a marker and a pencil.

Each preschooler was also able to measure their own bodies that we had traced with a measuring tape (disclaimer: measurements are approximate estimates as my tracing wasn't exact!).

Thanks for a fun day ... We'll see you all next week as we learn about the letter "Ii" and the 5 senses!
