Q is for quiet

On Wednesday we learned about the letter "Qq."  For Show-&-Tell Taylee and Liam both brought Question Marks and Elle showed us her Queen Elsa doll.

Each Wednesday the preschoolers practice recognizing the letters and writing their full name.

Our theme this week was Transportation!
We learned about the many ways that we can get from one place to another ... some of the things we sang and talked about were: by feet, bike, car, bus, boat, airplane, horse and train.  The preschoolers all had fun making their own NAME TRAIN.

One of our centers was imaginative play ... the children were able to choose a transportation station and let their creative minds take over!

To finish our day off we went outside and played red light, green light.

Just a reminder that this coming week we will be meeting on MONDAY and WEDNESDAY!  No preschool the following week.
Thanks:).

P is for popping

There are so many words that begin with the letter P!  We had fun learning all about them in our Pajamas today!
For Show-&-Tell Charlotte brought a Panda Bear, Brennan brought a Penguin, Connor showed us the Plane on his shirt and Anniston had a Pink Pillow and Poodle Puppy to share.

Our theme for this week was Safety.
Preschoolers practiced writing, dialing and memorizing their Mom's phone number.  They also learned that in Emergencies you can call 911.

We also talked about daily things we can do to keep ourselves safe ... such as wear glasses, sunscreen, bike helmets, shoes, life jackets, etc...

When driving in a car, it's important to buckle-up in a car seat. Taylee, Brennan and Connor are showing us the steps to do it correctly.

We also talked more about classroom safety ... here are the preschoolers showing us how to correctly carry scissors when their finished with them.  Always walk holding the blade down in your hands and away from your body.

We then practiced some fine motor skills by cutting straight lines on paper.  Please continue to practice this important skill at home!

In order to keep our heads protected and comfortable each preschooler stuffed their own pillow.

We used our pillows as we watched a short video of the ABC's of safety.  Some of the things we learned were to never talk to or go with a stranger, stop-drop-and-roll in a fire, and look both ways before crossing the street.

Here's a picture of Connor as he helped to safely make our popcorn snack for our pajama party!

Hopefully we can all remember how important it is to be safe!

Krispy Kreme

We had a fun time on our field trip today to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!  Here's some pics of the day ...
First, we learned and watched how a doughnut is made.

Everyone got their own bakery hat to wear!

The preschoolers were able to touch the doughnut dough.

We all ate a delicious (hot and fresh) doughnut with milk.

We're thankful for all of our Community Helpers and also for our two Mom's that helped out today ... Amber and Connie!

Have a GREAT weekend and we'll see you next Wednesday in class ... dressed in pajamas!!!

O is for Opera

Today we learned about the letter "Oo," the color Orange and the shape of a Star.  We also had fun learning about the importance of our Community Helpers and reviewing Ordinal Numbers.
For Show-&-Tell Jace brought and Orange and Elle brought Olaf the Snowman from the movie Frozen.

The "O" says O-O-O as in an Opera Singer!
Here's Abby, Brennan and Jace doing their best opera voices to the sound of the letter "O!"

Today we also celebrated Connor's Birthday!  We learned that his favorite color is Blue and that he had a fun birthday party with cake and presents including a walkie talkie!  He also brought us a yummy snack, juice boxes and some bubbles for all of the preschoolers to take home!  Thanks Connor:)!

To learn about some of our Community Helpers the preschoolers matched and sorted items/tools to a fireman, policeman, chef, doctor and teacher.

We were also able to pretend play... Elle was being a doctor, Abby was teaching Jace how to spell, and Charlotte and Brennan were the Vets taking care of all the animals.

We're grateful for the Mailman in our community and we're hoping that he can deliver these to each of of our homes this week!  Be checking your mailbox:).

As a review of our Ordinal Numbers and also to Role Play a Chef/Baker each of the preschoolers helped make some delicious No-Bake Cookies.
1st: Everyone measured the oats
2nd: Jace, Elle and Abby measured the cocoa
3rd: Brennan put in the milk
4th: Connor added a stick of butter
5th: Miss Stacey added the sugar

This was a fun activity and a tasty snack!

I'm looking forward to our field trip tomorrow to Krispy Kreme as we continue to explore the importance of our own Community Helpers!
