Krispy Kreme

We had a fun time on our field trip today to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!  Here's some pics of the day ...
First, we learned and watched how a doughnut is made.

Everyone got their own bakery hat to wear!

The preschoolers were able to touch the doughnut dough.

We all ate a delicious (hot and fresh) doughnut with milk.

We're thankful for all of our Community Helpers and also for our two Mom's that helped out today ... Amber and Connie!

Have a GREAT weekend and we'll see you next Wednesday in class ... dressed in pajamas!!!

O is for Opera

Today we learned about the letter "Oo," the color Orange and the shape of a Star.  We also had fun learning about the importance of our Community Helpers and reviewing Ordinal Numbers.
For Show-&-Tell Jace brought and Orange and Elle brought Olaf the Snowman from the movie Frozen.

The "O" says O-O-O as in an Opera Singer!
Here's Abby, Brennan and Jace doing their best opera voices to the sound of the letter "O!"

Today we also celebrated Connor's Birthday!  We learned that his favorite color is Blue and that he had a fun birthday party with cake and presents including a walkie talkie!  He also brought us a yummy snack, juice boxes and some bubbles for all of the preschoolers to take home!  Thanks Connor:)!

To learn about some of our Community Helpers the preschoolers matched and sorted items/tools to a fireman, policeman, chef, doctor and teacher.

We were also able to pretend play... Elle was being a doctor, Abby was teaching Jace how to spell, and Charlotte and Brennan were the Vets taking care of all the animals.

We're grateful for the Mailman in our community and we're hoping that he can deliver these to each of of our homes this week!  Be checking your mailbox:).

As a review of our Ordinal Numbers and also to Role Play a Chef/Baker each of the preschoolers helped make some delicious No-Bake Cookies.
1st: Everyone measured the oats
2nd: Jace, Elle and Abby measured the cocoa
3rd: Brennan put in the milk
4th: Connor added a stick of butter
5th: Miss Stacey added the sugar

This was a fun activity and a tasty snack!

I'm looking forward to our field trip tomorrow to Krispy Kreme as we continue to explore the importance of our own Community Helpers!

N is for Napping

This week we learned about the letter "Nn!"
For Show-&-Tell Brennan brought a Numbers book, Connor brought a Notebook,
Charlotte showed us some Noodles and Abi made a Noodle Necklace!

Here's Charlotte, Taylee and Connor writing their letter N's.

Our Theme was Cultures/Olympics ... so we decided to travel around the world, but in order to do so we all had to have our own passports!  Here's a picture of Abi filling hers out and of all the preschoolers showing theirs off.

To learn about places and people around the world we read a fun story called, "Grandma's Suitcase."  Inside of our suitcase were things from around the world that the preschoolers had to pick-out, find the country on the globe and finally color their passports in for each location.

Here's Connor showing us the Eiffel Tower from France, and Taylee pointing to Russia where she found a Nesting doll.  Some other items included in Grandma's suitcase were coins from South America, a Chinese lantern, a polar bear from Antartica and clothing from Africa.

We also played a matching game with famous landmarks from around the world.

Here are some of the Olympic Game that we played ... ice-skating with paper plates on our feet, throwing bean bags into a laundry basket, and bob sledding down our roller coaster!  We learned about the ordinal numbers of 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Here's Charlotte with her Gold Medal that she won!

This coming week we'll be learning about community helpers and have a chance to visit Krispy Kreme!  Please let me know if you'll be coming on our fieldtrip.  See you again soon!

M is for mmm mmm good!

We had such a fun time in preschool today learning all about the letter "Mm!"  Lots of words start with M that we read about like monkey, mouse (and mice), moose, moon, marshmellows and milk.  We also loved having our Valentine's Day Celebration and learning about the color pink and hearts ... lots and lots of hearts!

For Show-&-Tell Taylee brought Minnie and Elle brought Mickey ... what a cute Mouse couple!  Liam also shared with us his Monkey book.

We had fun cuting out hearts in the playdough.  Elle put faces on her hearts and said that it was her Mom and Dad!

We also had lots of fun jumping up and down, catching and playing with balloons. The preschoolers practiced what it means to play  " 3-2-1- FREEZE!"

Once we got all of the excitement out of playing with balloons we had our Math Focus lesson on More, Less and Equal to.  All of the preschoolers sorted the balloons into colors and then we counted each set.  We learned that white balloons had MORE than the other 2 colors (11), and the Pink balloons had that least (6).  We had to take away one of the purple balloons to make it Equal To the pink set.

We also sorted and did the same type of activity with Conversation Hearts ... then the preschoolers were able to gooble them down!

All of the preschoolers were able to make their own Valentine's treat bag with their names and some heart stickers.  Then they each passed out their cards/treats!  Thanks for the gifts and goodies!

Each preschooler made a special Valentine to give to those they love the most ... their Families!
They learned how to say "I Love You" with their hands and then left their own "I love you"
hand-print on the back of each picture.

I hope everyone has a special Valentine's Day!
Thanks for sharing your precious littles with me!  I LOVE our time together on Wednesdays.
